FAQ

Are you certified?
Yes!  Keely Ouellette-Danis is certified through Equissage, an industry leader is equine sports massage.

Which areas do you serve?
We are located in Enfield, Connecticut, but will travel throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.  Travel fees may apply.

Why a whole body massage?
Just like humans, when a horse is injured it over compensates with other muscles.  Regaining balance is curcial to total healing.  Also, because massage increases blood supply, reduces toxins, and increases range of motion the whole body is treated for maximum benefits.

How long is a massage?
Massages take about an hour.  Although, first time massages last longer since an overview of the horse's health and behavior is conducted prior to the actual massage.

How should I be prepared?
All we ask is that you have a flake of hay available to the horse when the massage starts.  Also, please find a relatively quiet and relaxing area of the barn for the massage to take place.

Should I be there when my horse is massaged?
Preferrably so, but as long as someone is in the general area in case of an emergency that is fine.  You will need to be there for the first massage so a detailed history of the horse can be taken.  Also, because horses react differently to massage, you will need to be in the general area to ease the horse as he or she becomes accustomed to massage.

How much does it cost?
Despite being more labor intensive and dangerous, our equine massage rates coincide with human massage rates!  Massages cost $75.00 although prices may vary depending on travel distance.  Group rates are also available.  For such rates, please contact Keely with the number of horses and location.

When should a horse NOT be massaged?
If your horse has a fever, is in shock, has skin disease, or has cancer they should not be massaged!!!  Massage can worsen these conditions or cause them to spread.

Are you insured?
Yes!  Centered Equine has liability insurance.
